The Wine Shift is an independent wine journalism platform examining markets, science, health, regulation and the changing relationship between wine and society.
Wine is often presented as a product, a pleasure, or a lifestyle. But it is also an economic, cultural and political system, shaped by institutions, regulation, commercial interests, science, tradition and changing consumer behaviour.
That is the wider system The Wine Shift examines.
Its aim is not to tell readers what to drink, but to explain what is changing, why it is changing and who benefits. Articles may focus on wine markets, health claims, regulation, consumer behaviour, viticulture, vinification, politics or culture. The common thread is analysis.
Our mission: wake up the wine world before the consumer does.
